This iconic cocktail dates back to the 1830s. According to legend, the apothecary Antoine Amédée Peychaud combined his family’s secret recipe for bitters with cognac. Later, some absinthe was added to this blend and voilà America’s first drink, named as a cocktail was born.

The original recipe for the Sazerac Cocktail calls for the perfect combination of cognac, simple syrup, bitters and a hint of absinthe.
